Memphis Depay wants Man City transfer despite ties to Man Utd

Memphis Depay had said he wants a move to Manchester City.

The former Manchester United winger has rejuvenated his career at Lyon after sealing a move to the Ligue 1 giants in 2017.

The Dutchman transferred to the Red Devils from Ajax in 2015 with much promise. But in one-and-a-half seasons the 24-year-old only mustered seven goals in 53 appearances.

This season alone Depay has produced 12 assists and scored six goals in 22 games for Lyon.

Now the forward is ready to move on again, targeting bigger clubs this time – including Manchester City.

In an interview with Helden magazine, Depay revealed the six clubs he wants to play for next – and none were United.

“Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe,” he said.

“I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich…”

“I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football.

“I always talk about Real Madrid, a royal club, white shirts with gold. But I’m focused right now on Lyon, and then we see where I end up.”
