Kenya debt is within the limit; Foreign Convey speaks out

The debate about the Kenyan debt has been in the discussion over a while now. The country has made considerable steps in acquiring of loans in order to develop different sectors of the economy mostly infrastructure.

The President Uhuru Kenyatta in a number of times has expressed his assurance to Kenyans on the issue of the loan.

The Ministry of Foreign affairs through his Representative Ababu Namwamba has come out to speak on the issue of debts and its pay-ability.

Ababu Namwamba Speaking to Sammy Gituku on Citizen TV has assured the country that is it within the loan limit and they should avoid the rumors that we have over-borrowed.

“Kenya’s debt level is not anything extraordinary. we are very much within the acceptable limits where debt ought to relate to the GDP of a country There is absolutely no crisis in as far as our debt level is concerned.”

The use of the resources and the money from the loans, Ababu has also expressed confidence that it is being put into proper use and utilization.

“The question ought to be if we are applying these resources appropriately so that by the time we repay then the resources have already invested in the right places and are generating output that contributes to our growth/ prosperity.”

On the on going discussion that the Chinese are discriminating Kenyans working in the SGR project, Ababu has faulted the sentiments as mere propaganda.

“on purported SGR discrimination against Kenyans: It is unacceptable for any Kenyan to face any discrimination of any kind whether here at home or elsewhere. It is even worse if it happens here.”

Ababu has expressed full confidence in Uhuru administration. He has said that it is geared towards achieving the pledges and the promises it made to the people of Kenya.
