Details of recovered evidence & its aid to Latema exposion investigations

After the explosion that occurred outside Odeon Cinema at the Latema/Tom Mboya street junction on Saturday about 7 pm shaking the country once again, investigating detectives have confisticated ksh 100 as evidence.

A trolley puller told police he had been approached at the Baba Dogo bus stop by a woman in a hijab and asked him to deliver the luggage to Kenya Cinema area.

The woman handed him Sh100 for the work. The money is among evidence now being analysed.

The money, which had been handed to a cart-pusher identified as Joseph Okinyi by a woman in a hijab, will be analyzed for fingerprints.

Police suspect that a mobile phone was planted on the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) after recovering a switch that was used to set it off.

Business owners along Latema Road and Tom Mboya street have been asked to share CCTV footages to help the police track the attacker’s movements.

The puller and a newspaper vendor were injured when the blast went off outside Odeon Cinema at the Latema/Tom Mboya Street Junction on Saturday at about 7 pm.

“The luggage went off minutes after the owner had left the scene claiming she had forgotten her ID and needed to pick it,” said the man at the hospital.
