Alarm as only 40% in a section of Kenya turn up to join High School

In the era wher education is the key to success, it is worrying if discoveryismade tht under any circumstances there students who are out of school.

This worry has raised eyebrows ina certain in section that has attracted the no knowledge doom.More than 2000 students who sat for their KCPE in Magarini sub county reportedly are yet to report to secondary school.

Magarini sub county education officials said the number is alarming as there has been no clear communication regarding their whereabouts.

“Out of the 4,920 who sat for the exams, only 1968 have reported to secondary and majority of them are those in boarding school,” sub county director of education Kithinji Muttai said on Saturday.

This emerged during a meeting conveyed by Marafa ward MCA Rensobn Kambi at Marafa boys secondary school to issue cheques to the schools.

The meeting was also attended by sub county exams officer in charge of special education Soud Babo, Ward administrator Katore Dominic, principals and board members from different schools.

Muttai said to reach the 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary, they had selected all students including one who had scored 85 marks in KCPE to ensure they get a place in the 25 secondary public and private schools in the area.

However, surprisingly he said only 40 per cent have reported to high school.

Traditionally he said lack of access to education in Magarini has been attributed to poverty but the current situation clearly showed the day schools which are supposed to be free are receiving a low number of students.
