The former Liverpool youngster slammed for thinking he’s bigger than an entire league

Former Liverpool youngster Toni Silva has been accused of thinking he is too big for South African football.

Silva had a short stint with Chelsea reserves before moving to Liverpool in 2009 and signing his first professional contract two years later.

However, the Guinea-Bissau international winger failed to make an appearance for the Reds first team before departing on a free transfer to Barnsley in 2012.

Silva signed for Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African Premier Super league 12 months ago but after just 11 appearances has moved to Egyptian side Al-Ittihad.

And the 25-year-old has been blasted by Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane for his attitude at the club.

“Toni Silva did not work out,” he said. “He did not want to stay. Every time he wanted to go.

“There’s Themba Zwane, who has never played for Chelsea and Liverpool, and he gives you more.

“There’s Gaston Sirino, there’s Lebohang Maboe.

“You know it’s very difficult when you come from Europe to here. It’s a different game, high impact. PSL is too fast.”
