Stay vigilant! U.S issues security alert to Kenya

Days after the deadly Dusit terror attack that left 21 people dead,the United States government has issued a security alert to Kenya through their embassy in Nairobi.

Through it’s twitter account,the embassy caution Kenyans to be more vigilant, according to a risk assessment, the exposure is countrywide.

“The US Embassy reminds the public of the continued need for sustained vigilance in public spaces such as shopping malls, hotels, and places of worship,” read the statement.

The Embassy has requested Kenyans to take precaution by being aware of their surroundings, staying alert in locations frequented by tourists or foreigners.

It has also instructed its citizens in Kenya to ensure their travel documents are up to date and easily accessible and to review their personal security plans carefully.

For any assistance or help, the public has been asked to call the US Embassy using +254 (0) 20 363 6451 during office hours and +254 (0) 20 363 6170 after working hours.

This has come in the backdrop of a successful bombing of Al Shabaab militants in Somalia on January 23 by U.S. security forces.

The U.S. military conducted two new airstrikes near Jilib town, Middle Jubba region on Wednesday.

Casualties from these two strikes have not been released. The strike brings the number of US bombings against Al-Shabaab in 2019 to eight.
