Sonko reveals plan to reduce congestion in Nairobi County Hospitals

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has  today unveiled his plan to reduce congestion in Nairobi County Hospitals.

The Governor said that there is  progress in the construction of a 72-bed capacity ward at Mama Lucy Hospital.

He also added that the  new hospital wing that will be officially launched soon will help to ease congestion in other Nairobi City County hospitals.

This comes days after Sonko shared  the efforts of the government to revamp the Nairobi County Hospitals.

The USAID Afya Jiji on the 18th January handed over surgery equipment to all 44 County Hospitals starting with Mbagathi Hospital.

Sonko says that the equipment will go a long way in assisting his administration to deliver services in the health facilities.

Sonko mentioned that Mbagathi has had, and continues to have, many challenges which his government is determined to resolve.

“As you may be aware, a lot of effort has gone to revamping Pumwani Maternity Hospital, and we are coming to Mbagathi next.” he said

The governor  said that the major problem that faces their health sector is an acute shortage of staff.

He however added that his administration is in the  process of recruiting doctors and nurses to reduce the pressure.

This will mark a major milestone in the health sector since it is set to improve service delivery in the city.
