Man utd Squad to face Arsenal in FA cup confirmed

The Manchester United squad has been revealed for our FA Cup fourth round tie against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Thursday that we would be without Marouane Fellaini, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo due to injury.

It has since been revealed that David de Gea won’t feature against the Gunners either as the Spanish shot stopper has been left out of the squad that travelled to London yesterday.

The Manchester Evening News published photos of the squad at Stockport train station yesterday afternoon, capturing the 20-man squad that headed off for the capital with de Gea the only noticeable absence.

De Gea was rested in our 2-0 win over Championship strugglers Reading in the previous round earlier this month but many would have expected our first choice goalkeeper to face Arsenal this evening.

Sergio Romero stepped in versus the Royals and was one of our best players, so it appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rewarded the Argentine with another start. Lee Grant is likely to be the backup again, though Joel Pereira has also travelled down south.

Ole did confirm in his press conference yesterday that he will be making a couple of changes from the side that beat Brighton 2-1 last Saturday, and the goalkeeper position is now confirmed to be one of those changes.

The caretaker manager also confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will feature versus his former club for the

first time. The Chilean missed our 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in the Premier League at the beginning of December through injury and has also missed our previous two games because of an injury as well. However, the forward is now fit again.

Another first team player missing from the photographs in the Manchester Evening News was Antonio Valencia. The Ecuadorian hasn’t featured for a while due to injury but Ole didn’t announce he was still injured.

The Manchester United squad that has travelled to face Arsenal is as follows:

Sergio Romero
Lee Grant
Joel Pereira
Diogo Dalot
Phil Jones
Eric Bailly
Victor Lindelof
Luke Shaw
Ashley Young
Nemanja Matic
Fred
Ander Herrera
Andreas Pereira

Paul Pogba
Jesse Lingard
Juan Mata
Alexis Sanchez
Anthony Martial
Romelu Lukaku
Marcus Rashford
