After talks of discord between President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, the DP has come out to somehow give his thoughts following President Kenyatta’s decision to elevate cabinet secretary for Interior Dr Fred Matiang’i to the heart of the Cabinet.
In an executive order issued on Tuesday, Uhuru established four powerful committees with Matiang’i at the helm.
The Matiangi-led National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee will report directly to the President.
It would provide overall supervisory leadership throughout the delivery circle of all national government’s programmes and projects.
Uhuru’s decison was seen by many as a move to trim DP William Ruto’s powers with Ruto’s supporters demanding to know the role he will now be playing.
Ruto who has been the face of monitoring and commissioning of government projects is reportedly in bad books with the powerful Matiang’i.
He has now come out to support President Kenyatta’s latest directive while also calling on all Government officers to align their operations according to the orders issued by the President.
“GoK officers at all levels should align their operations to the ORDER issued by HE the President setting up committees at county, regional,national (technical)and national (cabinet) for purposes of effective implementation of projects & programmes and efficient communication,” said Ruto.
