Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has today urged the  DPP to  free the Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu so that she may continue to serve the nation.

The MP says that despite the fact that the matter is in court, he feels that the Director of Public Prosecutions should reconsider his position in this case.

The embattled DCJ troubles began on August 28th 2018 when she was arrested over corruption allegations.

According to Babu Owino, many observers have noted that this war against corruption seems to have taken a political twist and is now tainted with vendetta and personal differences.

He stated that a good example are the trumped up charges against the Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu who is being subjected to vexatious litigation over matters that are clearly civil and not criminal.

“I take cognizance that the matter is before the courts. I urge the Director of Public Prosecutions to reconsider his position and drop this matter to free the DCJ to continue with the good work she is doing for the nation.” reads from his post

STRENGTHENING THE JUDICIARY As a lawmaker and as a keen lawyer,I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the swearing in of Justice Mohamed Warsame to serve as a member of the Judicial Service Commission following his recent nomination. Justice Warsame will bring invaluable depth of experience and vast knowledge of the law to the JSC that can only enhance its capacity and profile. In the same breadth, I wish to similarly call for sobriety in the so called war on graft in the Judiciary. Many observers have noted that this war seems to have taken a political twist and is now tainted with vendetta and personal differences. A good example are the trumped up charges against the Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu who is being subjected to vexatious litigation over matters that are clearly civil and not criminal. I take cognizance that the matter is before the courts. I urge the Director of Public Prosecutions to reconsider his position and drop this matter to free the DCJ to continue with the good work she is doing for the nation. Comrade Babu Owino, MP, Embakasi East and Leader, Youth For Africa Movement.
