How Ruto’s Tanga Tanga Movement Died a Premature Death Courtesy of Uhuru

Is President Uhuru Kenyatta drifting away from DP William Ruto? There have been claims that the head of State and his deputy no longer see eye to eye like it was the case before.

Lately, the President has made some shocking decisions without apparently involving DP William Ruto. Uhuru’s latest decision to make drastic changes to his administration came as a shocker to many with political pundits viewing this as a slap on Ruto’s face.

Uhuru’s latest changes mark the rise of Interior CS Fred Matiangi with the no-nonsense CS now like the pillar of the executive arm of the governmnet.

Matiangi has been tasked with  implementation and monitoring of all development projects initiated and funded by the national government through a new Cabinet sub-committee.

The sub-committee will be known as the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee. It brings on board all CSs, Attorney General Kihara Kariuki and Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.

Under the new directive, the conceptualisation, monitoring, implementation and evaluation will be done right from the grassroots.

This means MPs will no longer be trooping to Ruto’s office to lobby for development projects. In a clear show of confidence in the no-nonsense Matiang’i, Uhuru also handed him the critical National Transport and Safety Authority, which was initially in the giant Transport ministry under James Macharia.

Does this mark the death of the Tanga Tanga movement? Apparently yes.

Ruto and his Tanga Tanga team are known to criss cross different parts of the Country in the name of launching and inspecting government projects and while at it, take time to politick.

With Matiangi now in charge of government projects, expect a thorough management of these projects meaning that projects will no longer be launched any how to get political mileage like Ruto used to do.

This therefore means that the DP and his people will have to come up with other means to get to the masses.

Will Ruto come up with a plan B? Does Matiang’is appointment spell doom for him?
