Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today shared the efforts of the government to revamp the Nairobi County Hospitals.
The USAID Afya Jiji today handed over surgery equipments to all 44 County Hospitals starting with Mbagathi Hospital.
Sonko says that the equipment will go a long way in assisting his administration to deliver services in the health facilities.
Mbagathi Hospital is one of the four County hospitals and provides crucial health services to Nairobi residents.
Sonko mentioned that Mbagathi has had, and continues to have, many challenges which his government is determined to resolve.
“As you may be aware, a lot of effort has gone to revamping Pumwani Maternity Hospital, and we are coming to Mbagathi next.” he said
The governor said that the major problem that faces their health sector is an acute shortage of staff.
He however added that his administration is in the process of recruiting doctors and nurses to reduce the pressure.
Sonko said that they have already appointed 5 critical care nurses, 7 nephrology nurses, 10 pediatric nurses and 10 theatrenurses among others who will be posted to the hospitals next week.
This will mark a major milestone in the health sector since it is set to improve service delivery in the city.
