Controversial Lawyer Miguna Miguna has today criticized the arming of private security guards saying that it is an unconstitutional.
Miguna Miguna termed the move as irresponsible, reckless adding that private security guards lack proper training and have no constitutional mandate to police Kenyans.
His remarks come after the authorities announced that private security guards manning public places will now be licensed to carry firearms while on duty after fresh training and vetting.
According to the Private Security Regulatory Authority CEO Fazul Mahamud, this is expected to happen in six months’ time.
Mr Mohamed spoke at the Nairobi Railways Club where all senior supervisors and managers of security firms had converged to discuss modalities of the arming of private guards following the Dusit Attack.
Some Kenyans have brought in the idea of 24 hour system of monitoring CCTV cameras in the move to handle a crisis before such unfortunate attacks.
Others have however spoken on the side of the government saying that if it has worked in other countries then thy believe that it will for Kenya as well.
Yet another irresponsible, reckless and unconstitutional action by the usurpers of power. Private security guards lack proper training and have no constitutional mandate to police Kenyans. The Constitution is clear on what constitutes the @NPSOfficial_KE. https://t.co/SKnoyhcfte
