Police in Eldoret on Wednesday arrested four suspects alleged to be part of a syndicate defrauding maize farmers of their produce in the area.

Eldoret West OCPD Zachariah Bitok said the four individuals were arrested in Ziwa area after police received information that the suspects were swindling farmers by claiming they had orders to supply maize to the United Nations.
The OCPD said the main culprit claimed to be an employee of the UN.
Farmers in the area are reported to have lost about 700 bags of maize o the cartel.
The police boss said the conmen are taking advantage of farmers’ desperation, due to lack of market for the produce.
The OCPD has cautioned farmers to be wary to whom they sell there produce to.
