Police are investigating an insident where a sex worker was found dead in a lodging at Kiango market in Kenyenya, Kisii County.
Witnesses said the deceased Rose Nyabonyi has been working in a local bar in the area until she met her death.
“Nyabonyi has been social to everyone she comes across given the nature of her work. A room where she was sleeping remained closed the whole day prompting her colleagues to raise alarm,” said Amos Omwoyo.
Mr. Omwoyo said members of the public broke the door of the lodging room she was sleeping in only to find her dead body in bed.
Area police boss Isaac Thuranira said the deceased body was found naked in bed.
“Probe has started to establish what and why she was killed because her colleagues have said she didn’t go to sleep with any man in the room,” he said.
He argued that cases of people being found dead in houses are on the rise in the region.
“Her body was moved to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital morgue. More details will be given once her body will be examined,” noted Thuranira.
