Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enjoyed the perfect start to life as Manchester United manager with six wins on the bounce and now the club are starting to make moves in the transfer market with faith in their new boss. The club would like to raise some funds and make space in the squad to bring in number one transfer target, Kalidou Koulibaly who has been on the radar for some time now.

Former boss Jose Mourinho identified the Napoli defender as a top signing and it appears the club’s interest in him has not waned despite Mourinho’s departure. They will have to spend upwards of £80m to secure his signing but this defensive improvement could take the Red Devils to the next level and help them challenge for the title in years to come. United fans will be using Virgil Van Dijk signing for Liverpool as an example of how spending big money on a top defender can improve your side greatly.

United would like to raise funds and reduce the wage bill slightly before they spend big on the Senegalese centre-back and two players who look increasingly likely to leave are centre-back Marcos Rojo and much-maligned midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

With five central defenders already at the club, The Telegraph report that Marcos Rojo will be the first to be moved on. The defender, who left United’s Dubai training camp early last week to return to Argentina has been struggling to regain his fitness after a difficult run of injury issues. The club will look to move the 28-year-old on in the coming days for around £15 million as they look to free up space in their squad.

Despite being 31-years-old, the availability of Marouane Fellaini is drawing interest from several clubs all over the world. The Mirror report that Guangzhou Evergrande, Porto and AC Milan have all registered an interest in the Belgian and United are hoping to sell the player for around £15 million, as he is contracted until 2021.

If they can get £30m and save wages on two players who are making little impact on the first team then the possibility of signing Koulibaly becomes increasingly likely. Solskjaer is already a hit with United fans, but pulling this deal off would be his best work yet.
