Paris Saint Germain and former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has given insight into ability and character of the Barcelona French star Ousmane Dembele.
Tuchel was speaking to the French media ahead of his side’s match against Avant de Guingamp in the French Cup, when he was asked about his experience of working with the French international at Dortmund.
“Ousmane is an incredible player with a lot of talent. I enjoyed seeing him in every training session and he has extraordinary talent. He is lovely and charming but he is a little bit crazy. You laugh a lot with him but at the same time, we had serious discussions. We were never bored!” Tuchel told French journalists.
Additionally, Tuchel revealed that the 21-year-old Dembele had a long-running ambition to play for Barcelona before he realised the dream in 2017.
“When he is focused, he can do whatever he wants. When I spoke with him for the first time, he told me: “I want to play at Barcelona” and he is there now. He can do whatever he wishes but he has to be focused and improve every day. I like Dembélé a lot. I had a good year with him,” concluded the German.
Dembele’s PSG faces Manchester United in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League on 2 February at Old Trafford
