The three Chinese and a Kenyan were arrested in their house in Aberdares Court on Kayaya Road after neighbours complained of a foul smell coming from the residence.
The police sought more time to prove that the four were engaged in poaching.
Among the items police found when they raided the house was leopard skin, ivory pieces, rhino horn ,laptops, weighing scales, ivory jewellery and a tortoise.
Contraband goods that include cigarettes worth more than Sh2 million and alcoholic drinks were also netted.
The raid was carried out by a multi-agency team including detectives, officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Bureau of Standards and the Kenya Revenue of Authority.
Mr Kerich said they were taking a multi-faceted approach with the investigation because different departments needed to conduct separate investigations.
“We are working with other sectors such as the Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Revenue Authority, the City Council and the public health department to fully investigate this case,” said Kerich.
Police said the source of the foul smell was a large quantity of rotten flesh, believed to be dog and game meat, which had been stored in freezers.
