Chelsea boss okay with Fabregas exit but…

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has urged Cesc Fabregas to leave the club but warns a move by Callum Hudson-Odoi would not be good.

Fabregas, 31, is expected to join Monaco and Sarri says the move away would welcome. The coach was speaking in regard to the club’s policy of not extending contracts of players who are above the age of 30. Chelsea always extends a player’s contract for one year if the said star is above the age mentioned before. Should Fabregas finally leave, Sarri hopes the club will make a replacement.

“I can say only my opinion. I don’t know the decision of the club. In my opinion, he needs to go. You know very well in this club there is a rule – the renewal of players over 30 is usually for one year. He has an offer for two years. I don’t want a very important player as Cesc not happy. I don’t want to speak about players of other teams. If Cesc will go, of course, we need a replacement. Now with the midfielders, we are in trouble.” Sarri explained.

On captain Garry Cahill, the Italian gaffer said his mind is completely thinking of moving away and is always not getting involved with the situation of the club.

“At the moment I want to understand the situation – if he wants to go or not. At the moment his mind is not completely involved in our situation, so we need to wait. For Cahill the situation is different because we have (Ethan) Ampadu, so we don’t need a replacement.” the former Napoli coach said about Cahill who has lost his position since Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz have been preferred in most cases at the centre-back.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is another star who has attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Sarri believes a move to the Bundesliga would be bad for the midfielder.

“He is very young, he has the future. He has a very great future here in England, with the national team and Chelsea. To stay here is better for him. I am not in charge of these questions and I do not want to speak to a player about something that doesn’t depend on me. I know only that for me he is a very important player. He is very young but now he is improving especially in the defensive phase.” Sarri concluded
