Kirinyaga County MCA’s not happy with county boss Anne Waiguru after she slashed millions from the initial amount of funds set aside for bursaries.
According to the legislators, the county had allocated Kshs 70 million to facilitate bursary for students from the county.
However, Governor Waiguru only allocated Kshs 20 million to the bursary kitty which has seen the MCAs demand an explanation on the whereabouts of the remaining Kshs 50 million.
According to them, they only learnt about the budget cut after they were summoned from their recess by their Deputy Speaker Joel Waugura after he received a letter from the Governor alerting them of the slash.
The MCAs later held an emergency meeting to discuss what they termed as Waiguru’s misappropriation of county funds.
Threatening not to accept the slash that translates to an allocation of Kshs 1 million per ward, an amount they termed inadequate for students in the county.
