Manchester United boss seeking to bring back former flop

Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bring back Old Trafford misfit Joshua King in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The 45-year-old made the perfect start to life in the Old Trafford dugout on Saturday, overseeing a 5-1 victory against Cardiff City – the Red Devils’ biggest Premier League win since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge.

But Solskjaer is keen to add even more firepower to an attack that was rampant in Wales, with The Sun claiming he wants to bring King back to Old Trafford. Speaking at his unveiling, Solskjaer said he ‘will have an input’ in the upcoming January window and he is a huge admirer of countryman King. The Norwegian forward has five goals in 15 Premier League appearances this season, as well as laying on two assists, and is valued at around £25million by Bournemouth.

Solskjaer worked with King while he was manager of the reserves, with the 26-year-old coming through the club’s academy – and, crucially, counting as a homegrown player. United are thought to be wary of investing in players for Solskjaer in January, given that he will leave in the summer, but King has a long-time admirer in the form of prospective boss Mauricio Pochettino.
