Powerful Kenyan politician lawyer Martha Karua has no chills. The ‘iron lady’ today on Twitter expressed her opinion on the new police uniforms and from her reaction, the new Persian blue police uniform is not her cup of tea.
Responding to a tweet from the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, Karua described the new police uniform as terrible adding that she preferred the old one.

“Terrible color! The old one any time!” Karua commented.
The new uniforms have been received with mixed reaction most of them negative. The uniforms were unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta as part of the reforms in the Kenya Police Service.
The uniforms which were expected to be rolled out on Jamhuri Day have not yet taken full effect with claims that the government had ran out of material to supply the entire police service with the uniforms and was therefore planning to import them. Ministry of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has however dismissed the allegations saying that the government will not succumb to pressure from merchants to have police uniforms imported.
Earlier this week, the CS said that major local factories had already been commissioned to manufacture the uniform or 65,000 officers. Matiang’i maintained that the exercise was course and that the government had already paid local manufacturers to produce the new uniform.
He further said that all police uniforms would be procured and made locally to create employment and build the local textile industry.
