Ukitahajabu ya Musa utaona ya Firauni,residents of Kigio village, Murang’a County are in shock after a 41 year old man exhumed his father’s remains .
Raphael Mwaganu is said to have descended on his late father’s grave to exhume the remains to bury his family member he intended to kill .
It took the intervention of his relatives who raised the alarm which cut short his mission when he was just about two feet away from reaching the remains. The incident was confirmed by the area Chief, Isaac Munyua Mengere,who said the suspect is a known criminal.
According to the chief, the man’s father died when he was in remand at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison after he was arrested for being in possession of two rounds of ammunition.
“He lived in Dandora Estate in Nairobi, and whenever he was around we used to have cases of insecurity especially at the local trading centres,” said the chief
“He used to dupe the residents and security agencies that he was gone only to hang elsewhere and return back at night and when police laid an ambush, the two round of ammunition were recovered from his house although police did not find the gun,” he added.
He added that two days prior to the incident, Mwaganu chased away his mother Teresiah Wanjku who went to live with a relative after she got sucked up in his differences with his five brothers.
“He was in constant quarrels with his brothers especially the young one and whenever the mother moved in to separate them he always insulted her,” said the chief.
“The mother who was a born again Christian had come to my office with a request that I take her back home and talk to his sons to end hostilities among them and more importantly, talk with Mwaganu to stop insulting her,” he added.
The administrator said when police arrived, they were told the man claimed he was digging up the grave to create a space to bury another member of his family he had threatened to kill.
