Driver fined heavily for answering phone call while driving

A driver caught on camera speaking over the phone while driving had to pay a heavy fine for risking the lives of passengers.

The Rwandan police said that a concerned citizen wrote to the  reporting the driver who was on phone and shared a video.

The police immediately intervened and  stopped the driver and fined him. They also encouraged each one to emulate this mode of fact-based reporting.

Kenyan Traffic Police

Kenyans have asked the government and the Kenya Police to take this as a learning point and  make sure that they are equally fast in responding to such cases.

After the many complaints of money extortion, forced bribe, among other illegal activity happening on the roads, Matiangi urged Kenyans to make reports and even record videos of any rogue acts  and forward it to them.

It is however not clear whether this has been effective or not.  Vigilant Kenyans have however remained  concerned and random videos of PSV vehicles spotted on the wrong side of the road safety regulations have been exposed on videos online.

I am sure you have once spotted a driver on a phone call while driving right?

Personally I have seen a couple and you only act surprised and get off the bus at your destination. Realizing the danger that this can cause and the fact that it is life threatening, it is therefore important not to remain silent.

This could be another cause of road accidents sooner than we think. Keep that driver away from the phone. Let us all make the roads safe.
