Tanzanian musician Ommy Dimpoz has been flown to Germany for advanced treatment after his health condition deteriorated significantly.
According to his father Faraji Nyembo, pus had formed in the lining of his son’s throat after he underwent a throat surgery in South Africa in April this year.
After the surgical operation, his condition slightly improved. However, his health deteriorated recently, forcing the musician’s kinsmen to fly him to Germany upon advice that he would get specialised treatment in the European nation.
“After being attended to in South Africa in April, he went to Mombasa to rest. Three months later, when he went for medical check-up, it was discovered that his throat was oozing pus. He was treated in Kenya and allowed to return to Tanzania,” a source revealed.
In a June, 2018 video clip posted to his Instagram page, Ommy Dimpoz revealed that he had undergone a “major surgical operation”, and that he hoped all would go well.
“I passed through a difficult period after undergoing a major surgical procedure. I was hospitalised for 15 days after the surgical operation. I hope I will come back stronger. Currently, I am on bed rest. I thank everyone who sent me get-well-soon messages, and those who prayed for me. I believe everything will be fine,” he said in the video clip.
However, while in Tanzania, his health condition worsened. The musician’s father has now confirmed that Dimpoz is hospitalized in Germany.
“I can confirm that my son was flown to Germany for advanced treatment recently. His ailment is degenerative, but we hope he improves. All I can request Tanzanians is that they pray for him so that he can fully recover,” said Mr. Nyembo.
