AFC Leopards has refuted claims that the sacked Manchester united coach is expected to take over the club.

Through its official twitter account the club told its fans to Ignore rumours that AFC Leopards was seeking the services of Jose Mourinho.

Although the Kenyan club is seeking the services of a qualified coach, signing Jose Mourinho would bring a change in the club with new ideas coming in.

Jose Mourinho’s tumultuous spell at Manchester United has came to an end after a humiliating defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Mourinho was drafted in as the new Red Devils boss to succeed where David Moyes and Louis van Gaal had both failed in replacing the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

The clubs coach Nikola Kavazovic, who has been missing in action for the last two weeks, has been given until Tuesday to make up his mind on whether to return to the club or quit altogether.

Sources at the club have reliably revealed that Kavazovic has committed himself to settling the matter regarding his future at the club by Tuesday.

“The coach has informed us that we will have a final decision on the way forward by Tuesday. We have demanded an answer because we need to plan for the season,” a senior official of the club told Nairobi News.

Kavazovic left the country on December 1, saying he was heading to his native Serbia to be with an ailing member of his family.

Separately, Nairobi News confirmed the former Township Rollers coach left after he fell out with a section of the club’s National Executive Committee members.

A text message that has been circulating suggests that the coach was angered by club’s delayed approval and processing of a Sh20,000 ($200) advance.

In the meantime, since he left various media reports in South Africa and Kenya have linked him with the vacant coaching role at Premier Soccer League side Free State Stars.

In Kavazovic’s absence, Leopards have failed to win any of their opening two league matches this season, drawing 1-1 with Kariobangi Sharks on the opening match day of the season before receiving a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday.

Why has AFC leopards not yet negotiated with Mourinho?
