Is Musalia Mudavadi playing his cards right or will he end up frustrated like it was the case in 2013?

In 2013, Mudavadi was seen as a the best option after Uhuru Kenyatta. In fact, Uhuru and his TNA Party was willing to let go of the Presidency and have Mudavadi run instead. Everything seemed to be well on course until Uhuru Kenyatta and his team suddenly made a U-Turn that would see Mudavadi reduced to nothing just with the snap of a finger.

Fast foward to 2018, Mudavadi is focused on the Presidency only that this time round the ANC Party leader is focused on working things out himself and not have things handed over to him on a silver platter.

Mudavadi has started making inroads in Central Kenya  which is arguably understandable.

If Mudavadi had the whole of Mount Kenya, then you would be assured of six million votes as per the 2017 General Election. If you top up those numbers with with the Luhya votes  if he were to get them as a block  then it would mean that Mudavadi is a strong contender contender for the presidency.

But what if Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta maintain their new found friendship until 2022? Will Mudavadi still stand a chance of becoming President?

Mudavadi’s Luhyia Community is also a faction the ANC Leader has to worry about. The Luhyia has got a number of sub-tribes with each of them always voting in a given direction.

Luhyia Political leaders also seem divided on their preferred choice for Presidency. Other sections have thrown their weight behind DP William Ruto, Others behind Mudavadi while others want the Community to focus on fostering unity then produce a Single candidate to square it out with Ruto.

Political Pundits have also viewed Musalia’s decision to skip Raila Odinga’s swearing in ceremony as one that affecting him negatively.

Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka have since pledged to work with President Kenyatta hence leaving Musalia as the only legit opposition Chief. Even at that, Musalia is seen by many as someone who cannot keep the government in check all by himself.

It still remains to be seen if Musalia Mudavadi will be able to stand toe to toe with William Ruto with the race to Statehouse already heating up.

Would You Vote For Musalia Mudavadi should he go for the Presidency?
