A chief in Marsabit was burnt alive during a public function by unknown people. Chief George Biqa for Dirip Gombo Location, was attacked by a group of people who branded him a traitor during the burial of a Kenya Reservist officer who was killed in a bandit raid on Saturday.
Further reports indicated the reason behind the attack was due to Gombo attending a function where Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani was the chief guest, a move that angered members of his community. Yattani during the Friday function, had gone to recognize the Wayu community as citizens of Kenya.

The attackers first beat him up and then proceeded to set him on fire. A manhunt by the police is ongoing to apprehend the criminals. This comes after clashes broke out in the county that led to the death of 14 people. The clashes resulted to the arrest of North Horr MP Chachu Ganya and Saku MP Ali Rasso in October.
