The attackers first beat him up and then proceeded to set him on fire. A manhunt by the police is ongoing to apprehend the criminals. This comes after clashes broke out in the county that led to the death of 14 people. The clashes resulted to the arrest of North Horr MP Chachu Ganya and Saku MP Ali Rasso in October.

The two lawmakers were charged with inciting violence but released on a cash bail of Sh250,000 or Sh1 million bond. According to Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot, Ganya and Rasso were released to continue with reconciliation process between the conflicting communities that had begun before their detainment. Cheruiyot however had directed that the two legislators report to the DCI office every week.
