CS Matiangi condemns attacks on police officers

Do you think civilian attacks  on police officers have gone to the extreme end? Lately Kenyans have been publicly airing insulting comments to police officers and faulting them for not doing their job or being involved in criminal activities.

Kenyans have also shamed them for claiming that they are unprofessional and subject Kenyans brutality in some instances.

Recently the image and perception of the police officials continues to grow dim as viral videos of them engaging civilians in an unexpected manner have been a hot topic in the country.

Earlier yesterday,Fred Matiangi condemned the recent attacks on police officers while on duty & stated that the Government has no policy supporting extrajudicial killings as often reported by some civil societies & human rights activists.

Speaking in a meeting with players in the Governance, Justice, Law & Order Sector (GJLOS) to mark International Human Rights Day, the CS urged them to cease making alarming statements that dent Kenya’s image as an attractive destination for investors and tourists.

The Kenya Police has been looked down upon for many reasons over time and although some need to be rooted out for corruption or any other reason; Kenyans forget the few that make a difference and place their pure efforts to ensure that the law is observed.

With Matiangi’s remarks, there is hope that even in the International space the reputation and image of Kenya’s security detail will be perceived based on their efforts.
