Zlatan’s move to Italy hits a snag

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be joining AC Milan, the Rossoneri’s sporting director Leonardo has confirmed.

The Serie A club’s hopes of reuniting with their former star hit a brick wall after confirmation that the Swede will be back with the Los Angeles Galaxy after they met his requests.

Speaking to reporters after Milan’s barren draw against Torino on Sunday, Leonardo said: “He gave his word to Galaxy that he would stay if they satisfied his conditions, and they did so.

“It would have been a really lovely story because it would have given a significant weight to the team. We can’t deny that both parties thought of it, but it will not be possible.”

Ibrahimovic has been in superb form for the Galaxy since joining from Manchester United in the summer scoring a staggering 22 goals and adding 10 assists in his first season in the MLS and subsequently being named as the league’s Newcomer of the Year
