Virgil van Dijk accepts Liverpool’s precarious position in the Champions League is their own fault.
Jurgen Klopp’s side need to beat Napoli at Anfield on Tuesday, with a 1-0 win or a two-goal margin needed to guarantee a place in the last 16.
Van Dijk told a press conference: “You don’t want to be in a situation we are in tomorrow where we could get knocked out but we want to show we belong in the Champions League.
“We are doing very well in the league and we can show it in the Champions League.
“It’s our own fault we are in this position but we have a way of getting out of it.”
Virgil Van Dijk says Joe Gomez’s new deal at Liverpool is well deserved. “He’s a great player for us and England, he can only get better and I’m just glad he’s signed” #LFC pic.twitter.com/3w7OZupt3A

The Reds must win either 1-0 or by two goals to qualify out of their group. If Paris Saint-Germain draw with Red Star Belgrade then any victory for Liverpool will see them through.
Last year’s runners-up have got themselves into a tricky situation, and another magical night at Anfield is required.
Speaking to ESPN FC about the atmosphere at Anfield for European clashes, van Dijk said: “It’s very special. I don’t think there’s anything like it. The games we played last year against Man City and Roma at home were unbelievable, the atmosphere. It’s just something special.
Klopp: “After a long period of not playing Joel Matip plays two games, Virgil van Dijk plays 20 in a row and these are all things we have to consider.” ? https://t.co/VMrazfsR8o
