Raila Odinga Issues a Fresh Warning to ODM Legislators

The race to the 2022 general elections seem to be already taking shape with a number of politicians already taking sides. Deputy President William Ruto has been seen by many as the man to beat come 2022 while there are still doubts as to whether Raila Odinga will be on the ballot or not.

ODM legislators on the other hand have insisted that Raila must contest for the Presidency come 2022 with some even suggesting that he is the ultimate successor to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Senate Minority leader and Raila Odinga’s close confidant James Orengo over the weekend hinted that Uhuru Kenyatta will endorse Raila Odinga for the top seat. Well, with the head of State having declared that his 2022 choice will shock many of us, Orengo’s claims should not be taken lightly.

Raila Odinga on the other hand does not seem to be enjoying all this political talk. The Opposition Chief has now asked ODM legislators to desist from engaging in endless political talk and instead focus on their Key mandate which is working for the people that elected them to their various positions.

Raila has asked the legislators to prioritize solving the numerous problems that face Kenyans.

The new AU Envoy for Infrastructure and Development was made these remarks when meeting with a delegation of Coast MPs led by Msambweni’s Suleiman Dori whom he told to pay attention to the Building Bridges Initiative.

Dori and Owen Baya (Kilifi North) and Wiper’s Ali Mbogo (Kisauni), assured Raila of their commitment to working with him. They relayed similar assurances from Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who is attending parliamentary games in Burundi.

The MPs appealed to the ODM leader to use his experience in politics to guide new and younger colleagues and expressed their readiness to consult and be guided.

“We assure you that we’re available for regular consultations and guidance by the party. We’ve slowed down on 2022 campaigns as you had advised and we remain committed to actions that strengthen rather than weaken the party,” Dori said.

The ODM disciplinary committee had recommended the expulsion Jumwa and Dori over gross misconduct. They were summoned in October after they openly declared their support for DP William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid. They ignored the summonses.

Raila promised the lawmakers a fair hearing by the National Executive Committee.

Do you think the ODM Brigade will heed to the Party Leader’s pleas and Stop Politicking?
