Arsenal fans have fallen ever further in love with their star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his weekend brace sank bitter rivals Spurs in one of the best North London derbies we have seen in recent years.

The Gabonese hitman bagged an early penalty before hitting a wonderful first time shot into the corner beating a helpless Hugo Lloris to level up the scores at 2-2. Auba then led the line as Arsenal ran riot, eventually winning the game 4-2 and leapfrogging their fierce opponents into the top four in the Premier League.

These two goals for the Arsenal hotshot means he equalled a Premier League record that has been held since 2007 by Benni McCarthy, the former Blackburn striker. Aubameyang has become the first player since the South African to score from ten consecutive shots on target in the Premier League and will break that record if he bags against Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea with his first attempt on Wednesday night.

The achievement becomes even greater when you consider McCarthy did it over two seasons, first scoring in six of Blackburn’s last eight games of the 2006-07 season before starting the following campaign in flying form with four goals in three games.

Aubameyang has taken to the league like a duck to water and his ruthlessness in front of goal means he is in serious contention to win the Golden Boot this season, in an Arsenal side who are flying under Unai Emery. The Gunners travel to a miserable Old Trafford on Wednesday night and will be hoping to get the better of Jose Mourinho’s men.

First on the Portuguese manager’s list. Stop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
