The famous handshake between President Kenyatta and NASA Leader Raila Odinga seems to have extended to their families as their wives seem to be hanging out quite a lot of late.
Two weeks ago when the President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi was in town, Margaret Kenyatta hosted the First Lady of Mozambique Isaura Nyusi for dinner at State House. Raila Odinga’s wife Ida also made an appearance at the state banquet.
In a tweet on her Twitter account, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta referred to Ida as her sister.

“Delighted to have hosted my sisters, the First Lady of Mozambique, H.E. Isaura Nyusi and Mrs. Ida Odinga during a State Banquet at State House, Nairobi,” said Mrs. Kenyatta.
Today, Margaret Kenyatta relaunched the First Lady’s Half Marathon (FLHM) at State House, Nairobi and guess who was not only in attendance but walked besides her, Mrs. Ida Odinga. Looks like the two have been chatting for a while now right?
Mrs. Ida Odinga has been away from the limelight ever since the mysterious death of her son, Fidel which seemed to have thrown her of course for a while. However, she’s now back and will be helping the First Lady in the marathon that seeks to better maternal health care in Kenya.
After today’s relaunch, the FLHM will now be known as the Beyond Zero Half Marathon (BZHM) and will seek more partnerships as it targets programs that support Universal Health Coverage.
Speaking at the relaunch, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta said that she was committed to raise funds that would help deliver the promise she made to women and children. Mrs. Kenyatta has promised to deliver mobile clinics to all 47 Counties across Kenya.
Besides the health of mothers and children which is a priority for the First Lady, the new framework will now also focus on neglected health challenges including adolescent health, repair and integration of women living with obstetric fistula and social inclusion of children living with disability.
Kenyans are now looking forward to the next Beyond Zero Half Marathon to see whether Mrs. Ida Odinga will join in for the marathon especially after she got her t-shirt labelled 0003.
