“There’s a story on a document circulating that is being claimed to be by the Building Bridges Taskforce.

“This is to clarify that it is NOT a product of Building Bridges Initiative. All Kenyans are free to submit solutions but watch out for fake news,” Ambassador Kimani stated.

The fake document that was purported to originate from the team also claimed that the 14-member panel wants the Executive restructured and the Parliamentary system re-introduced.

Besides, the document alleged that the team had proposed the reintroduction of the post of a Prime Minister, a devolved IEBC and adoption of a full electronic voting system.

There have been talks among leaders and citizens on the need to reduce the number of elective posts to manage the bloated wage bill.

On the other hand, the call to move from a presidential system to a parliamentary one has been debated as one way of addressing the chaos that rock the country during the electoral cycle.

Through nationwide forums, the team is expected to formulate ways of addressing various issues including tribalism, corruption, impunity, electoral fraud, shared prosperity, responsibilities and rights and the issue of historically marginalised and vulnerable groups.
