Reasons why Sanchez was dropped from Champions League squad

Manchester United midfielder Alexis Sanchez was dropped from the 18-man squad that edged Young Boys 1-0 in the penultimate UEFA Champions League clash, with Jose Mourinho confirming that his omission was not down to injury.

Sanchez was introduced in the 68th minute against Crystal Palace but failed to impress and was withdrawn in the matchday squad that took on Young Boys. Mourinho made six changes from the side that drew against Palace over the weekend as he sought for a response after the frustrating performance.

Sanchez was also dropped from the side that lost 3-0 to West Ham United and has started only three games since.

Mourinho confirmed that Sanchez was not dropped because of injury, “No, Sanchez is not injured. But is quite curious you always speak about the ones that are not playing. Tonight, you had Marcus Rashford playing as a nine, that’s what you want, that’s what you ask all the time and you had.”

Will he ever regain his form?
