Mwakazi makes a TV comeback

It is a new beginning for former Citizen TV journalist Johnson Mwakazi.

Mwakazi has been reported to make a TV comeback after he landed a TV job with the newest television station in Kenya. He is set to become the head of TV 47, a station owned by Cape Media.

 

Cape Media operates under the wings of Mt. Kenya University  founded by Prof. Simon Gichuru.

Mwakazi left Citizen TV to go head start WTV a station owned by Foundation Media Group which later shut down in December 2016, prompting him to start his own company dubbed “Royal Voice International.”

The Royal Voice International is a media solutions company that deals with media production, training, mentorship and conference moderation.

According to reports Prof. Gichuru will be launching his TV station soon after closing down Royal TV that used to operate in Kigali, Rwanda.

Cape Media is managed by Gichuru’s son, Kevin and they have invested more the Sh500 million in the new venture. The media company is also planning to launch a radio station called Beats 47, based on previous experience of operating a Radio and TV station in Kigali for three years.

Prof. Gichuru’s radio station (Royal Fm in Rwanda) is among the top three stations in the country.

Reports indicate that Cape Media will mainly focus on on counties and corporates.

Mwakazi, popularly known as the Royal voice, is a graduate of Daystar University and joined Citizen TV in April 2004, and worked with RMS for over eight years.

Mwakazi grew up in Kibera, His mum was a househelp in trhe nearby Woodley estate. He went to Jamhuri secondary school before joining Daystar University.

He once admitted to have been an addict of pornography having been introduced by it by his friends while he was a little kid in the slum.

However he was able to come out from it after highschool and after he got saved.
