Breaking: Gor Mahia unveil 8 new players ahead of new season, Kahata likely to leave

Kenyan Premier League Champions Gor Mahia have signed eight new players ahead of the new Premier League seasons that kicks off on the 8th of December. The club, via chairman Ambose Rachier also confirmed Monday that they have received countless applications for the vacant head coach post.

Of the eight new players, one is a former Gor Mahia player in Kenneth Muguna while another, Eric Ombija, has been promoted from the Gor Mahia youth team. Shafik Batambuze who won the 2016 KPL title with Tusker Fc has also been unveiled joining from Tanzania outfit Singida United.

Geoffrey Ochieng also joins from Western Stima alongside Pascal Ogweno from Kariobangi Sharks. 22 year old forward Nicholas Kipkirui from Zoo Kericho, Erisa Ssekisambu (Vipers, Uganda) and Castro Ogendo from the Kenyatta University complete the new signings list for the record Champions.

Still on matters player transfers, Rachier also confirmed that midfielder Francis kahata who looks destined for a move out of the club has asked the club management to leave.

”Kahata has requested that he be allowed to negotiate with a club in Algeria (its not USM Algers) but I have told him to ask the club to write to us. As a club we haven’t received any offer from any club for him.” Rachier said.

Gor Mahia are yet to receive the full amount from the sale of Ugandan leftback Godfrey Walusimbi from Kaizer Chiefs but Rachier expects the full payment to be completed in January next year.

Gor Mahia will enetrtain Malawi Champions Big Bullets at the Kasarani National Stadium for a CAF Champions League qualifier first leg encounter from 4pm Local time.
