Arsenal finally get Welbeck replacement

Arsenal’s Head of Football Raul Sanllehi has said Danny Welbeck’s injury could open the senior team door to Ghanaian youngster Edward Nketiah.

Welbeck tragically broke his ankle at the Emirates Stadium against Sporting CP in a UEFA Europa League match in October.

According to Sanllehi, Nketiah could be the next regular feature in coach Unai Emery’s matchday squads.

“That is absolutely something unplanned,” he said about Welbeck’s injury.

“Yes, that makes you consider things. I am not saying that’s a green light to go to the market but we have good players in the house also that may get further opportunities, like Eddie Nketiah for example.”

“If there is a very good opportunity, we are definitely going to consider [it], we will see. Danny Welbeck’s injury alters, in a way, the views.”

The 19-year-old Ghanaian could be named in Sunday’s squad against Bournemouth
