Bungoma County has hit headlines more than once, following the horrifying incidences that normally happen in the county. Do you remember the KDF officer who killed his own boy child over a wrangle with his wife early this year? Did you know that a few months later another man from Bukembe, Bungoma county killed his own wife and buried her behind their house? As if it was not enough, a security guard was man-slaughtered at Bungoma Members Club in April, a few days before another woman stabbed her husband to death before flying away.

Today, Police in Bungoma County have launched investigations into the death of a 15-year-old in the hands of her parents.

Neighbours said that Abigael Namukhosi spent the night at her boyfriend’s house on Sunday.

Other sources claimed the minor was attacked after she failed to shine in her Standard Eight tests.

The Nation could not independently confirm any of the two allegations.

Abigael, who wrote her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams at Ndalu Primary, managed 277 out of 500 marks.

Mr Michael Simiyu, a neighbour, on Tuesday told the Nation, a local daily, that the man, identified as Meshack Barasa, beat his daughter to death when she arrived home.

“He and his wife tied up the girl to punish her. It happened in the afternoon,” Mr Simiyu said.

The girl, according to relatives and neighbours, disappeared in the evening and her parents had been looking for her since.

Bungoma North Officer Commanding Police Division Stephen Mwoni told the local daily that the girl resurfaced on Monday.

“The man used sticks to punish his daughter. Unfortunately, she sustained serious injuries,” he said.

The girl was taken to Ndalu Health Centre where she died on arrival.

Abigael’s mother Gertrude Barasa was taken to Ndalu police station as police began looking for him.

“The law will catch up with him soon,” Mr Mwoni said.
