Barcelona banned from signing Liverpool players

Spanish giants Barcelona are ‘banned’ from signing Liverpool players for another two years.

As reported by Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Liverpool has inserted a specific clause into the Coutinho deal preventing Barcelona from trying to sign any more Liverpool players for a three year period.

The Catalans signed Coutinho from Liverpool in January 2018 for reported deal totaling to £142m with add-ons.

Due to the clause, Barcelona won’t be able to approach any Liverpool player until 2021. The only way the La Liga could sign any Liverpool player in this period is if the Reds choose to sell to the Catalans.

“Barcelona will have to pay a 100million Euros premium in addition to any transfer fee should they try and sign another Liverpool player before 2020. The clause was negotiated by sporting director Michael Edwards as part of Philippe Coutinho’s £142million move. @TimesSport,”
