Uhuru Promises Serious War Against Corrupt NYS Officials

President Kenyatta has today renewed the fight against corruption as he sent out a stern warning to those who will be found culpable. Speaking during the National Youth Service pass out parade in Gilgil, Kenyatta said that no individual will get away with embezzling public resources.

Kenyatta also added  that everyone who has pocketed funds meant for empowering our young men and women at the National Youth Service must be held accountable.

“We have invested for the development of this nation, not for self gain.. We do not champion the cause of youth opportunity and hope as a favour to them, but rather as the necessary, undeniable, embrace of our collective future. That’s why we’re called to give each of our children the chance to make the most of their talents.”

The National Youth Service has in the past been involved in major corruption scandals and the efforts to hold the culprits accountable has taken the longest time.

The National youth service was established in 1964 to train young people in important national matters. In 2013, the government of President Uhuru Kenyatta began restructuring of the organisation to solve the high youth unemployment in Kenya.

This however has not helped the youth as intended and as per the objectives set.. but instead the institution has twice been on the spot after billions of money was said to be lost.

With the cases still pending , having that NYS 1 almost forgotten and NYS 2 being a case that is still ongoing, Kenyans feel that no suspects will be brought to book.

President Kenyatta has however insisted that the war against corrupt NYS officials will not go unpunished.

Do you think Kenyatta’s directive will heighten the war against corruption in Kenya?
