ODM Party Comes to the Rescue of Mama Chungwa

ODM Party has demonstrated that they care about their members, after they came to help one of the party loyalists Mama Orange, who was recently bereaved after the loss of their son.

Mama Orange, whose real name is Roselyne Akinyi recently appealed for help after the death of her son Victor Otieno in October.

The party announced that they had donated sh 210,000 to their staunch supporter to help in funeral preparation. This brings the total amount they have donated to sh 316, 000. Last week, she received sh. 106, 000.

ODM’s secretary general Edwin Sifuna met with the funeral preparation committee at Orange House on Friday morning, where he handed over the the money on behalf of the party.

For one decade, Mama Rosa Akinyi has been a staunch disciple of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). She even vowed to leave Kenya if Jubilee won the general elections.

Akinyi often wears colourful orange attires, complete with messages printed on boards and bright orange headgears to all ODM functions.

Akinyi has often said that her journey with the Odingas began with Ford-Kenya, then NDP (National Development Party), NARC (National Alliance of Rainbow Coalition) and now ODM. She says that even if Raila leaves ODM to form a ‘Jembe Party,’ she will gladly follow him.

She is such a Raila fanatic that she was fainted when she heard that the former Prime Minister had lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2013 general elections.

“I fainted when I heard that Raila had lost. I was told it was hypertension. I was rushed to the hospital, where the doctor jokingly told me that, ‘Mama, hapa hatuna dawa ya Raila’.” she once told a local daily.

Mama Chungwa says she has met Raila severally, and that the former Prime Minister is very fond of her.
