Its festive season ,your child risk to be arrested if found doing certain activities past 6 pm.

The government has threaten to arrest children found in coastal beaches and parties beyond 6 pm this holiday.

Speaking on Wednesday, Kwale County Commissioner Karuku Ngumo warned that the children will be punished and their parents prosecuted for neglecting their duties.

He revealed that this is an effort to protect the children from crimes likely to be brought by numerous East Africa artist who will flock the country during the holiday.

“Action will be taken on any child who will be found at the beach during this festive season especially now that we have several artistes from East Africa coming to the country for the holidays,” Warned Ngumo .

Security officers mandated with regular patrols in beach areas also risk arrest if they let children roam past the stipulated time.

Ngumo also disclosed children attending weddings during the night since it is unsafe.

“We don’t want our children to be allowed to walk at night to weddings or to the beach. We want children to remain to be children,” he added.

Ngumo argued that this directive was to prevent the influx of crime involving minors as they have closed schools for their holidays.

This directives will also help curb minor sexual abuses and teen pregnancies.

In June, it was reported that young girls in the coastal region were involved in child sex for a dollar allegedly finding catches in weddings, at the beach and in concerts among other places.

“Most girls in my village do it. I can get Sh100 to Sh500. Sometimes a tourist will give Sh1,000.” a 16-year-old was quoted at the time.
