Before 2013 little was known about Junior Nyong’o.
Junior came into the limelight in 2013 when he accompanied his older sister Lupita Nyong’o to the 2013 Academy awards. Where her sister was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 12 years a slave by Steve Mcqueen , becoming the sixth black actress to win the award. She is the first African actress to win the award, the first Kenyan actress to win an Oscar, and the first Mexican to win the award.She was the fifteenth actress to win an Oscar for a debut performance in a feature film
Well not only did Lupita bring her brother Junior as her date to the 2014 Academy Awards on Sunday, but she also let him take up some prime real estate in Ellen DeGeneres’ A-list selfie! that went viral with the most re-tweets of all time.
