The Deputy President William Ruto hyas been beefing with the Leader of opposition Raila Odinga for the longest time ever.Since the campaign days to the handshake that happened on March 9th between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga creating even more beef.
But now seems like things are easing up well not sure whether this will last for long though considering that the two bigwigs in Political world are eyeing for the top seat after President Uhuru Kenyatta retires in 2022.
However that aside, Over the weekend DP Ruto was in Migori County one of those area that Raila Odinga and Co. hjas the biggest following,Here he warned Nyanza politicians who are currently speaking ill about the Opposition Leader to stop
In his return to Migori on Monday, Ruto insisted that the leaders do not have an option other than working with government.
While addressing the crowd in Swahili he said, ” Si munaona ata Agwambo amekubali tushirikiane, kama Agwambo amekubali tushirikiane wewe ni nani hapa katikati kutuambia ya kwamba hatuwezi kushirikiana.”
The DP said the local politicians who boycotted his tour your either follow Raila or perish politically. Apparently, Ruto had hosted Mr Odinga on Friday, two days before his visit.
“There is no Jubilee or NASA. It’s time that we work together in government. We should now focus on development.”
It is not clear why local politicians apart from Governor Okoth Obado snubbed Mr Ruto’s first trip in Luo Nyanza, since the October 2017 repeat presidential elections.
The DP held private meetings with former MPs Edick Anyanga (Nyatike) John Kobado (Uriiri), James Rege (Karachuonyo) and Martin Ogindo (Rangwe) during his South Nyanza tour.
Obado rallied supporters for Ruto’s visit which started with a closed door meeting with church leaders and elders at Maranatha Hall in Migori town.
All ODM MPs from the county shunned the meeting. Only Marwa Kitayama (Kuria East) and Mathias Robi (Kuria West) were present. The two were elected on Jubilee party tickets.
Ruto launched the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project in his constituency. The government will spend Sh1.2 billion to connect electricity to 25,000 households, the DP said.
