Actor Dennis Mugo popularly known as OJ has denied allegations that he was fired from his job because of alcoholism.
The actor who left Tahidi hight at a time when he had become a household name aroused speculations that he had been sent to rehab for alcoholism.
He has since denied the claims saying.” I have never been an alcoholic in term of dependency on alcohol but there are times I have overdone it. But it has never gotten to a point of going to rehab or having cops involved,”
OJ added that the only reason he left the show after six years was because of maintaining realism.
He said he joined the show young and by the time he was leaving he already had two kids.
“The story about leaving Tahidi was based on the realism of the show, it had to be maintained. We had been in the show for over 6 years. It was a phasing out of the old class that had Abel Mutua, Philip Karanja and Sarah Hassan.
We started as 2nd-year students and when we were leaving Eddy already had two kids…it was time. There is no way Eddy is telling guys that he is in form 4 and he has two kids outside the show. The believability of the show kinda shakes.” He said
However years after quiting the show, OJ made a come back the same show this time acting as a teacher.
OJ gained quick fame and instantly became a household name especially among viewers who religiously followed the episodes. But soon, he was off the screens with allegations the TV sensation could have been fired for being a drunkard flew around.
Later in 2015, he announced he had moved to K24 TV as a production assistant of Kikwetu Super Chef, a cooking programme but he again left.
