Happy birthday Mr. President, But what will you be remembered for?

Whether he likes it or not, President Uhuru Kenyatta will be remembered for only one thing, his unwillingness to tackle run away corruption in the government. And for that, he has left Kenyans with a heavy burden of being taxed with no value.

As Uhuru celebrates his 57th birthday, he must know that time is running out for him to tame graft and at least make something worth remembering as his legacy.

The infamous phrase ‘Mnataka nifanyeje!’ surprised many Kenyans, who wondered why the most powerful man in the country can act so powerless.

Recently the President pointed a finger at his cabinet, whom he has accused of failing him on several occasions. That’s so unreasonable being that he is the boss who hired the cabinet secretaries, so why can’t he fire them?

Uhuru is a man who has been known to speak tough on corruption when in public but do nothing in private.

At the Nairobi International Trade Fair, the President lost his cool and pointed at Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri on cartels being paid money meant for maize farmers.

“I promise you and I swear before God, you try that again and you will see what will happen. We’ve seen what you did and we will come after those responsible,” Uhuru said.

Almost a month later and no one has been fired in relation to the NCPB scandal. In fact, I don’t remember the last Minister Uhuru sacked apart from Joseph Ole Lenku.

Uhuru has told us on several occasions that he wants the Big 4 Agenda to be his legacy in less than four years’ time. But how will he do that with incompetent thieving staff?

Happy birthday Mr. President, just remember a birthday is a reminder than you’re running out of time.
