What’s up with Mourinho and his three fingers gesture?

Jose Mourinho just can’t keep those three fingers out of the headlines. The Man Utd manager first whipped out the now infamous three-fingered gesture in a bizarre post-match press conference after his side suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham back in August, which was of course in reference to his three Premier League titles.

Then, in the aftermath of Man Utd’s 2-2 draw away to Chelsea last weekend, Mourinho again made the gesture when he walked past Chelsea fans en route to the tunnel, as he reminded them of the trio of Premier League trophies he lifted in two spells at the capital club.

Just three days later (Tuesday) Mourinho AGAIN thrust three fingers at opposition fans, this time the travelling Juventus supporters during the 1-0 loss to Max Allegri’s men.

With the vocal away fans mocking Mourinho in their section of Old Trafford, the Portuguese’s response was sticking those headline-hogging three fingers over in their direction, in an attempt to remind them of the famous treble he won during his time in charge of Inter Milan.

Back in the 2009/10 campaign Mourinho became the first manager to lead an Italian side to the domestic cup, league, and European treble. Along the way his Inter Milan side beat rivals Juventus in the Coppa Italia, and finished a staggering 27 points ahead of the Old Lady in Serie A.

Meanwhile, Juventus have since agonisingly failed to match Inter’s treble-winning achievement, falling short in the Champions League final on two occasions in recent times.

The question is, when will the gesture crop up next? United face Everton next, so this weekend is probably a safe bet…
