Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has strongly claimed that the Deputy President William Ruto will indeed be announced the winner of the 2022 presidential general election even if he does not win.

The former Senator was speaking while he announce his full support towards the Deputy President come 2022 general election.

He further asked his supporters not to lose hope in their search for electoral justice, claiming that it was impossible for a government sponsored candidate to lose the presidential election.

In his statement he said, “All the citizens should rethink what I have said. William Ruto will be announced winner even if you defeat him.

In addition he said, “I am a seasoned politician and I have been keen to know who becomes President every electioneering year. It has come to my attention that in Africa, you cannot defeat a candidate of a sitting president and that is why I have decided that I will not waste time waiting for results to be relayed by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. I choose to support Ruto in 2022.”

Mr. Khalwele was speaking in Uasin Gishu where he formally announced he had joined the Ruto camp.

Khalwale’s comments came at a time when President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on politicians to shun 2022 talk and focus on politics.

The President has called on Kenyans to support his unity deal with ODM Leader Raila Odinga which seeks to promote, among others, electoral justice.

Khalwale has for the longest time been a big critic of Deputy president William Ruto and it was only recently that the senator claimed the source of the money Ruto donates during harambees was questionable. Khalwale is simply seeking cheap publicity.

All the DP is doing is helping the poor and it is unfortunate that Khalwale is against this. He should know Kenya is what it is because of the harambee effort, which has made it possible to implement projects or help individuals, for instance, raise school fees or clear medical bills.

Many churches, schools and hospitals have been built through harambee and Dr Khalwale knows this. But he criticises everything Ruto does, however, good it is. Instead of the criticism, he should also help the poor the way the Deputy President is doing.
